Ladies, Motivate Yourself For Love

Motivation is pretty important in our lives. If you are on a pathway to find your soul mate you need to be motivated. It is also beneficial to feel good about yourself, so that when you land that wonderful date you are ready to knock them out!

Whether we are talking about your social or business life, your sports or love life, motivation and confidence are very good to have on your side. In order to successfully motivate yourself it is important to work out exactly what inspires you, who you want to be and what your goals are.

So let us keep it simple, start by writing a list. I am a great believer in lists, I use them constantly. In fact I sometimes have lists of my lists (okay, I am kidding here!).

I would like you to write a list of everything you would like to do before you leap into your coffin thinking ‘wow, what a wild ride that was’. And be brave, come on, what would you really like to do and who would you really like to be? Then think about who you would like to do it with? Give it some proper thought, not over a few minutes, but over a few days, possibly weeks, and gradually formulate that list. Then split it into two, the things that you would like to achieve this year and then what comes next. Now prioritise each item on the first list in the order you would like to achieve them.

Examples (in no particular order) could be:

- Get fit

- Get a new man

- Buy new wardrobe

- Build my confidence

- Laugh more

Now consider the first thing on your list and with your eyes closed, really imagine that you have already achieved it. Just take some time to really visualise it or feel it to the best of your ability. Once you have achieved that, move on to the next item and again close your eyes, imagine what it would feel like to have actually achieved it. Then consider how you feel? Repeat this over a few days, really start believing you have already achieved what you would like to achieve and see what happens – it can be quite motivating!

Confidence building and motivation is all about helping you understand that you can actually do what you want to do, sometimes this means changing the beliefs built up over our lifetime – maybe we have been told that ‘you cannot do that’ or ‘that is not achieveable’ etc. If this is the case we may need some confidence building before we believe we can live the dream. By visualising that we have already achieved that goal you automatically build the confidence, which in turn helps you to put into place what you want to achieve.

Once you start this journey, you can see changes in a short time. It can give you a whole new view of the world and enable you to move from being a procrastinating type of person to becoming a self starter; from a couch potato you can run a marathon; from an under-confident person you can get that superb date because you feel so good about yourself!

So define your goals now, dive into the vast sea of your mind and discover the possibilities in life.

How Snare Drum Exercises Improve Your Drumming

When you boil it all down, the caliber of your drumming is based off of your musical knowledge, technical skill, and rhythmic execution. What’s interesting is that practicing effective snare drum exercises can help significantly improve all three of these categories. In this article, we will discuss why practicing snare drum exercises is important, what exercises you should be practicing, and how they are applicable to other percussion instruments. To get started, let’s first talk about why practicing snare drum exercises is important.

Consistently practicing snare drum exercises on a drum or a practice pad is important because it allows you to strip away all distractions and focus on the three main pillars of drumming: your musical knowledge, your technique, and your rhythmic accuracy.

By removing any additional toms, cymbals, and auxiliary instruments, you have the opportunity to dedicate valuable attention and effort towards improving your playing. This time can accelerate your progress by truly enhancing and improving your drumming fundamental.

When you sit down to practice snare drum exercises, it is common to wonder what exactly you should practice. One of the best ways to determine what type you should practice is to determine your weakest technical capabilities and musical concepts. To do this, make a list of drumming qualities and aspects that you need to improve. Next, organize the list with the aspect that needs the most improvement at the top. Finally, when you have your list organized, create a simple yet effective snare drum exercise that specifically focuses on practicing that aspect.

Practicing these basic yet highly targeted exercises can create a large boost in progress by placing so much attention and work into a single aspect of your drumming. As you continue to improve your fundamental skills and musical comprehension at such a refined level, you will really start to notice how the overall quality of your playing is significantly improved.

Once you gain this experience, consistency, and quality, you can apply it to any other percussion situations that you find yourself in. For example, if you want to play drum set, you really don’t have to change a whole lot to get the same great tones out of your toms and cymbals as you get out of your snare. Therefore, applying the information you learned through practicing effective snare drum exercises is rather simple to do and quite helpful.

In summary, practicing snare drum exercises is a great way to improve your drumming and allows you to focus on the aspects of your playing that truly need improvement.

From Goma Chan to Pikachu: The Ultra Cute Pokemon Mascot

The one truly unique thing about Pikachu is his tremendously powerful capacity to deliver electric shocks In the Japanese world of ‘cute’ creatures, Pikachu is probably unprecedented in that sense, and it undoubtedly adds to the character’s popularity. The other hugely popular cute mascot to come out of Japan the world over is Hello Kitty. Hello Kitty is so harmless that she can’t even talk back to you or insult you- she has no mouth!

Pikachu is an original Pokemon and by far the most famous. For this reason he is called a Legendary Pokemon and is one of the characters in the line of Legendary Pokemon cards. It’s been a long time since Pikachu first arrived on the scene however and now there are over 400 individual Pokemon. The latest incarnation of the game is called Pokemon Black and White and it wildly popular. If you didn’t know, the Pokemon Black and White game has already resulted in many spinoffs including Pokemon Black and White plush toys (stuffed toys), Pokemon Black and White Promo Cards, Pokemon Black and White Game Cards, and special Pokemon Black and White cards like shiny suicune, shiny raikou, and shiny entei.

Hardly any Westerners know Goma Chan, though all Japanese do. Goma Chan is a baby seal, and a seal who’s just beginning to get his black spots as he grows out of his snow-white coat. Goma means ‘sesame’ in Japanese and in this case refers to the appearance of white rice sprinkled with black sesame seeds. In Japanese animation, Goma Chan is the height of cuteness, harmlessness, cuddliness, and vulnerability. While Hello Kitty has the above mentioned quirky feature that I don’t particularly care for, Pikachu has a ferocity that never before has come out anything so cute. Goma Chan on the other hand is flawless.

But in truth, Pikachu borrows heavily off the Goma Chan elements. He looks like a baby seal for one thing, though he is yellow. He also looks a little like a cat, drawing off the Doraimon character, which, although not really considered to be cute, is very likable and charming, and finally Pikachu unmistakably has cute bunny ears. He has the kind of cuddly animal look that makes you want to hold him like a big fat lap cat and stroke his ears. He also has a voice that is cute to the point of being ‘baby annoying.’ And yet, to watch Pikachu battle is awe-inspiring and dashes whatever images of pure cuteness we had of him over the cliff. Pikachu is cute, but potentially a thunder god.

Motorcycle Maintenance

Whether you want to be a “Bad Boy”, “Biker Dude”, or “Biker Chick”, you have to start somewhere. Of course you probably already know which motorcycle you want to get, but have you thought about what all you will need to do to take care of your motorcycle and to stay legal and safe on the road? Be sure that you know your state laws for motorcyclists, and how to maintain your new bike.

Every state in the US requires that you at least have minimum motorcycle insurance. Different insurance companies have different packages. You will want to think about how you will be using your motorcycle and what all you want your insurance to cover. If you ride it every now and then on the weekends, the minimum coverage may be just enough for you, however, if you plan to use your motorcycle as your main means of transportation, you are going to want more than the minimum coverage available. Also, in order to legal ride your motorcycle you need your Class M License. The can be obtained through your local DMV after taking the proper courses needed. You can go ahead and purchase a motorcycle from a dealership without proof of a license. They may not let you ride it home, but hook it to a trailer instead. Whichever the case may be, please stay safe and follow the law. Get your Class M License and state minimum motorcycle insurance. Having your license and insurance is important, but also taking care of your motorcycle is also very important. Even going over just the basics can keep you safe while you are cruising.

You will want to check your owner’s manual to find out what type of oil you use and how often you should check it. This isn’t the same for every bike, for some it depends on the make and model of your motorcycle. Just as different cars require different gas or oil. The average time to change your oil is possibly around every 3500 miles. If you aren’t sure, check your owner’s manual, ask a mechanic, or call the dealership and ask.

Tire pressure is also very important for maintaining a motorcycle. Your tire pressure can change for several reasons, the season, the temperature, humidity, and also your riding style. Air pressure can affect the way your bike rides, so you want to make sure that your tires have the right pressure. The proper tire pressure should be written on the sides of your tires, if you are not sure, check your owner’s manual. If the tire looks dried out or is cracking, they are no longer safe to ride on. Also, check your chain and make sure it is well oiled and doesn’t kink during a full rotation.

Another very important thing to check are you brakes and rotors. When you use your brakes, do you feel a pulsing or a grinding? If you feel a pulsing, it is possible that you need to get your rotors fixed or replaced. If you feel a grinding, this could mean that your brake pads are shot and need to be replaced or they will start to destroy your rotors. When you use your brakes, if it feels spongy, then you are probably in need of a new brake line.

Take just the basic steps to take care of your new or used motorcycle will help keep you and others on the road. Be sure to check your bike and repair anything that is broken after it has been idle for a while, for example after the winter, you will want to double check your oil, tires, and brakes before you take it out for you first spring or summer spin.

10 Ways to Screw Up an Interview!

1) Make a joke at the examiner’s expense : This is a sure shot winner. Will definitely put you in the spotlight with some very bad light!

2) Sit down before the committee does: Well common courtesy aside, gives the committee the wrong impression. Make sure they realize that you have no respect whatsoever for them. If you’re standing during the examination, well then you won’t get this opportunity; though there are MANY other chances you still have!

3) Smile too much: It is often misconstrued as nervousness! DO NOT hide the pearly whites even if the examiners don’t believe in returning the favor.

4) Try to be too convincing: Rest assured, there will some people on your panel determined to challenge anything you say. So best way to ensure the situation deteriorates further is by continuous nonsensical yapping even when the interviewer seems disgusted beyond repair.

5) Forget important technical terms : Alas! The human brain and its ways! At precisely the moment of truth, some of your brain cells voluntarily commit suicide and there is no way you can retrieve the lost information. Cash into the situation by staring blankly into mid-air or the conventional chewing of fingernails.

6) Have a blackout! : Very close to temporary amnesia but only a more TOTAL form of it. When all the voices in the room fade out and all you can see is black infinity. Don’t worry though, it is usually a good thing. As in your case. the interview is soon going to end and someone smarter than you in going to get the gig. No one said it would be a good thing for YOU!

7) Wear uncomfortable clothing : This is like the silent killer. Because you feel a twitch and you can’t get to it and its still irritating…so while the panel is asking questions you are busy focusing on cloth threads or that imaginary bed bug climbing up your back. Damn! If only you could get to that! Meanwhile, your audience is still wondering why even after such focus your answers are void.

8 ) Have a look at the clock : This is an absolute must! Having the realization that you have been drilled for so long and yet such little time has passed is an excruciating one! This is when time seems to stand still and you give up any hope of redemption. Let these brutes know that you’re too scared to be with them in a room for more than 5 minutes and hence a working relationship is next to impossible!

9) Drink water: Contrary to what some people believe, drinking water never calms anyone’s nerves! In fact on occasions, will activate the synapses suggesting nature’s call in your head. Only adding to the sense of urgency in your head. The constipated look is a sure winner in this situation.

10) A No-show : Well if the previous steps didn’t get you there, this surely will.It will definitely save you the anxiety during the exam. How about watching another rerun of Friends?

Anime – The Popular Animated Japanese Art And Artists

Starting in the early 1960s, anime has blossomed into one of the most popular forms of entertainment in the world. Originating in Japan as comic books and magazines, and going on to animated forms, the series of incredible stories developed with various characters, their life and growth have attracted fans around the entire planet, both young and old.

Anime is, of course, an abbreviation of the word “animation.” There are a wide variety of artistic styles in anime because it depends on the specific style of the artist or studio and what they create in their own imagination. In many series, the characters have large, round eyes and big hair but this isn’t always the case.

All animation must first be hand-drawn by the artist, and these artists have mostly also done comic renditions for comic books and started out with that as their goal. This then expanded into the animation sector, and was often assisted by other animators in studios, sometime using computer techniques. The procedure of turning drawn cartoons into animation is a long and complicated one but fulfilling for both the artist and eventual viewer.

Early on, the Japanese film industry solved the problem of low budgets and other restrictions by making their movies from the characters in the early comic books. The artist could have free reign to create whatever kind of characters they wanted. Since Japanese anime usually emphasizes backgrounds for atmosphere, any scene whatsoever was possible, from the big city, nature, to different countries around the globe and even outer space settings. Thus any story line could be complimented by the illustration coming from the artist’s free creativity. Any sort of action and activity was feasible, from wild fights, to whole cities blowing up. The possibilities were endless.

The artists of these characters and story lines often took part in the animation process, sometimes devoting literally years to creating the series. The anime went on to become television broadcasts and occasionally full-length movies.

One of the most popular anime series is called Inuyasha, a feudal fairy tale. Rumko Takahashi, a Japanese manga (comic book) artist, developed the tale originally. Her incredible talents led her to become the best selling female comic artist in history. Studios adapted her comic illustrations to the screen, and now there are currently about 167 episodes of Inuyasha on DVD for all to enjoy. It is still an on-going plot and thus fans can continue to enjoy Inuyasha far into the future.

DragonBall, another extremely popular series, was created by Akira Toriyama who spent over 11 years producing hundreds of episodes. Over 160,000 people a month search for DragonBall Z on the main search engines, and it is likely growing by the day.

Credit must be given to the Japanese culture for producing such original and thoroughly enjoyable entertainment for all ages. It has competed with the American cartoon industry that has mostly concentrated on the children of our culture, but now competes with the animated movies becoming more and more popular in present day.

Shadows in the Wild ((Part One of Two Parts)) Short Story)

Part One of Two Parts

Shadows in the Wild

[North Beach, Minnesota]

A Suspense Drama in the Shadows of Minnesota

In the Great Lakes Area

A Screen-play in reading form

Shadow in the Wild

[A Poem made for the play]

In fall by a forest,

He stands alone

Against Lake Superior; –

And trees of stone.

At the hour,–Midnight,

[His shadow aglow]: links

Land, Lake an’ road–

He sees his foe…

They

Also see him,

As they drive on by: –

A living force,

They can’t deny….

In the Wild

November, l988

It is the hour before midnight, on the harsh, gray flat asphalt road along the banks of one of the Great Lakes [Superior]. A truck races by like a shadow, the moon glowing behind a small house. The car swiftly goes on by, the dim light from the fogy night: –moon penetrating through the fog onto the tuck and house, where a man is standing by the road; — music is heard coming from the car, Rock & Roll, as this stranger standing by the road, a man in a red plaid shirt, he stands erect, as if he was Paul Bunion; standing in-between the road and the house as a truck races by.

Now, it is an hour past midnight, and the soupy sky is blocking more of the light from the moon, yet still bright amounts of light seep through from the moons light, spiritedly, making clear the man figure intermittently, but not too clear, not his face in particular [you never see his face clearly, yet you know he is handsome], only his height is quite obvious; — his broad and thick shoulders are noticeable, his solid stance is terrorizing if not magnetic. Still standing between the lake, house and road, the music is no longer heard, only the sounds from the waves of the Great Lakes are audible, slapping against the bank. The big man doesn’t turn, or move a muscle. Now the truck again, the very same one that went by before is going by again, but this time slowly. It is an l952-Ford truck, green.

A huge rat runs across the street, in-between the wheels of the car, it is hit, and squeals, cries with pain, someone in the front seat, passenger side looks back to see what it was that they hit. The rat stares at the looker, his eyes dark, almost humanistic, a reflection of his dark eyes, it seems to penetrate the back window, as if the eyeball it self of the rat, sticks into the glass. The rat’s back is crushed, and he is pulling himself off the road with his front limbs. The Ford-truck is a spotless and clean truck, that is, it was before the rat put his blood on its wheels.

The dark figure standing, staring by the street, is noticed by the two men in the front seat of the truck, they stare but keep going, –trees blowing to his right and left, the waves of the Great Lake of Superior, makes a humming sound, and everything else, as if you were in the middle of a hurricane, the stranger stands erect yet, never moving. He sees the eyes of the passenger in the Ford-truck, a small figure, a man of about forty, the driver calls him Skip, and he hears that. The taller man at the wheel, his arms are solid, and frozen to the wheel, is called Amery, for some reason you know he knows that.

Skip: “Yes, yes, I saw him! D’ did you? He was by the trees, or was it in front of the house…? No, by the road; gee, maybe it was both, he seemed to be in both locations at once. A shadow effect I suppose.” [He talks with unsteadiness].

The moon is almost covered now with the fog and darkness of the sky, and night has completely taken over the north area of Minnesota. The birds in the trees, and there are only a few, can be heard, most have gone south as there is a little snow here and there, the fall leaves are all over with their many colors; the rat now across the street is dying, and reeking with sounds of pain. You can hear him twisting about in the leaves. A deer in the woods is awaken and runs deeper into the wooded area; as if nature was about to have an abruption; birth pains. The few birds leave the branches; they also know something is wrong.

Amery: “You’d think that man, that man, the one by the house back south [he doesn't finish his thinking].”

He stutters a bit and is silent as his truck slows down to ten miles per hour. Amery hands a knife to Skip, who puts it next to his groin area. The car stops, they both are thinking, looking at one another, their eyes are not blinking, you can see the hairs of their eyebrows as if the eye is attached to it, the lower lip of the eyelid is almost stuck to the eyebrow from staring, –they’re listening to the waves, for that is the only sound now that is optional, except the humming of the truck motor, the waves of the of the Great Lake Superior seem to be upon them [Amery is thinking out loud, talking to himself 'I'd don't like it, get out of here'].

Skip sees the thickness of the woods next to him, as the head lights reflect the fog-lit moon shadows. In front of him there are hundreds of frogs crossing the road, driftwood had reached all the with way from the lake up to the road, –it is strange they both think [but say very little, talking seems to stress them now], and so they now are thinking more with their body expressions, their face, eyebrows, the way they look at each other; –they turn their head sharp as if they sense Lake Superior is right next to them because of the sounds of the waves are becoming louder again, but they know it is a few hundred yards to the side of them, yet all this driftwood laying about, they seem to be fixed on for the moment, as if they were on a levy.

Amery puts the weight of his head on his hand as if to support it, –not sure of what to do next, and then he puts his hand flat on top of his head: — as if he is fed up with it all. Skip gives a head shake as if to say no, but says nothing. He turns his head from side to side. Then out of no where he puts his hand along side of his face as if to slap it, giving stupid me looks!

Skip: “That house, for some reason I’m interested in that house, as if I don’t have enough mystery in my life, and that man, and d’do-oo, you-u-u think we should go back and …” he leaves it an open statement-question, instead of a question.

“M-m-m-m,” said Amery [with a query looking face as if to request for clarity], his cunning looking eyes staring at the frogs. Adding, “We can circle around and go back South to the stranger’s house, if that is what you want, I like the house idea for some reason, it just… [he puts his fingers both hands on his forehead simultaneously, one above each eye, and puts pressure on them as if to say, this is crazy], it’s just bothering for some reason, the house, that man;” –he kind of feels at this point, maybe this is an unlucky thing to do, as if there might be no escape once done, and so is unclear with his mood; ‘foolish of me to think like that,’ he tells himself. Skip does not say a word but with the tips of his finger and thumb in the center of his forehead he pinches himself to see if he is crazy himself or alive, “Weird…” he mumbles.

[Back to the House]

Slowly they drive a little further up the road, find an area along the road side, they can turn around the truck; –cliffs being on one side and an embankment on the other that lead down to the lake itself. As they make their turn, they straighten out the wheel, press hard on the gas and get the hell going to the strangers house.

As they drive Southbound to find the house, innately Amery’s solid arms are becoming tighter, along with his hands on the wheel, his face showing stress, eyebrows were rapidly being raised and lowered as if to say ‘no’, being annoyed with himself and Skip for turning the truck around. His whole body is becoming agitated.

Skip: “You need a drink, Amery? Pull yourself together; you look like you’re under some acute anxiety attack.” Pulling a bottle of wine from under his seat, he opens the bottle and drinks a good drink from it, right out of the spout, then hands it to Amery.

Along the roadside you can see the shades of dark-green and black shadows along the grass, and the crossing of shadows along the forwarding black asphalt road, as the Ford-truck glides along.

The car now becomes more manageable, as Amery takes a second swallow from the wine bottle. His body is starting to loosen up. He pulls on his eye somewhat, as if he is more alert, or is trying to be.

Skip: “See? That is all you needed.” Skip has small glasses on, like Ben Franklin, as he speaks he looks over the top of his glasses at Amery. He notices Amery is more settled, and therefore, allows himself to lean back more into his seat.

“We should be getting closer to the house, slow the car down,” says Skip.

Amery: “You mean truck.”

Skip: “Whatever, — but slow it down…!”

He now takes a look about the area, it is not the house, it is the top of tress by the lake; –the shadows are forming the likes of a house. As he catches his breath, they continue forward.

Everything is quiet outside of the car now, yet some Rock and Roll music can still be heard from within the car, but it is real low.

Again they slow down, then stop, look about, they hear the water slapping the bank from the Great Lake again, but can not see it. The breeze from the lake is picking up, as the window is rolled down they can feel the breeze, there is a chill to it, so they roll it up a bit more. Trees are swaying.

Amery: “I can’t see a damn thing out there, and it’s getting cold…!”

Skip shakes his head [as if to say, I got to do everything] and opens the door to see where they are at [in particular, if the house is visible, he does not want to pass it up so he looks in both directions, north and south, as the steps out completely of he truck; --he steps on several frogs, "...god...birchen frogs every place!" He jumps back into his truck.

"Damn things are all around; I hate swarms of things like that." Amery simply looks at Skip, not saying a word, a flat affect.

Skip and Amery start to make funny faces as a putrid smell fills their nostrils.

Amery: "What on gods-earth is that stink...?"

Skip: "Not sure, --maybe a skunk, dead frogs, the water smells sometimes; maybe shit, who knows up here, could be a combination ... [he hesitates] let’s shut our windows.” As another mile goes by it starts to get a little foggy looking out the window, shadows seem to be everywhere.

Amery raises his head, he sees the house, and pulls the truck over to the side of the road. The house is across the street, now to their left, or East. The big man, the stranger with the red-plaid-flannel looking shirt, is standing by his porch; –just standing there. Skip rolls down the window, gets a bit of fresh air, and notices the frogs are gone.

Skip: “Hay Amery, the f*cken frogs are gone, gone, gone.”

Amery: “I just got thinking, what are we doing back here, this is the third time.”

Skip: “What do you mean?” Skip stops to think what Amery said, “Yaw, your right, the first one was by necessity, the second by curiosity, and the third, oh well, maybe by something symbolic, that man, yaw, that man, we need a good fresh mystery in our life’s like we need a hole in the head, but we’re here none the less. I suppose no real reason to this otherwise; –can’t think of one anyways.”

Skip looks over Amery’s shoulder out his window, toward the house, he is somewhat leaning on the steering wheel.

Amery: “He’s just standing by the porch.”

Skip: “Yaw, I can see that, let me yell at him: –’Hay stupid, yaw you, what you doing!”‘ Amery looks at Skip as if that might not be the smartest thing to do.

Skip: “Something on your mind, Amery.”

Amery: “I would like to go, get rid of this cargo, and have breakfast.”

In the back of the truck is a gunny-sack, the sound of a sack is rolling back and forth, it sounds like a sack of potatoes. “Let’s pass this up Skip, I don’t necessary like this.”

Skip: “Morning will not be for a few more hours, we got time to fool around, and then get back to business.”

Very quickly Skip opens the truck door, steps down from the truck onto the side of the road. There is still a chill in the air; he coughs, buttons his sweater up a bit, tries to focus his little eyes, adjusts his glasses on his nose. He is about 5’4″ inches tall, about 160 pounds, so he is having a hard time seeing over the hood of the car, he starts to walk to the front of the car. Spying about, trying to see in the forest, he hears something, a squeak, looks down, and there is that rat, a big, big rat, the size of a twenty pound dog; –the rat is a foot from him, and with what strength he has left, bites through Skip’s pants taking a good gash out of him. Skip falls back, than turning 45-degrees, he jumps up on the side of the truck, almost backwards into the truck. You can’t make out what he is saying but he is yelling and swearing, and as he feels his leg, blood is bucketing out like a boxer who just got his nose broken, and split open. He pulls out a scarf from under the back of his seat of the truck, and ties it lightly around his leg.

Skip: “I’m bit, the rat, that f*cken rat, was trying to kill me…” Amery backs the truck up, then goes forward running the rat over, but now is stuck in the side of the road in a hole, his front right wheel in mud with a little ice.

Amery: “I told you Skip, this was not good, and we should go.”

Skip: “I got to get to a hospital.”

Amery: “What about the cargo?”

Skip: “Get the gun, go in that damn house and kill that sun-of a bitch-en stranger and we can bury the body there, and get a doctor out here”

Amery: “I don’t think it’s going to be that easy.” Amery then pulls a gun out of the glove-compartment, a Three-fifty-Seven revolver. He checks to see if it is loaded, knowing it should be, and it is. Putting it in his right jacket pocket, he grabs the wine and gives it to Skip to drink. Skip drinks half the bottle down, leaving only one forth left. He is drunk now.

Amery: “I hear another car coming, funny isn’t it; way up here in no mans land.” He hesitates, looks at Skip, “Maybe we can go to that light house, you know, the one we saw one the way up here, I’m not sure, but it’s about a hundred, or is it fifty miles from here.” Then he looks around, “Where is that car…must be hearing things also.”

Skip: “It’s too far, why not here.”

Amery: “This guy is more creeper then you and I are. That’s why.”

Skip: “Now listen [Amery being with a lack of credulity], we don’t need to be put off by this guy, we just kill him like we were going to do with the girl … you know, girl in the gunny-sack in the back of the truck. The one we rapped, and rapped, and she tried to get away, so we cut her hands off, feet off so she couldn’t, and we rapped her again. She’s most likely dead by now.”

Amery: “I hear a boat whistle, and I heard that gunny-sack rolling back and forth before, when the truck was stopped, she’s still alive.”

Skip: “This is the Great Lakes, what do you expect, ships go back and forth all the time. You’ve lived too long in North Dakota. But if we do not get me a shot to counter this rat poison, I’m going to die; this f*cken rat most likely has rabies, disease, everything under the sun. I don’t want to die like this, not with a rat bite.”
